 New Partnerships

WoMena is proud to have launched two new partnerships in the first quarter of 2016. We partnered with the Social Innovation Academy (SINA) to provide menstrual health and menstrual cup user information through the "Ask Without Shame” app and hotline founded by one of SINA's scholars.

We also started a new research partnership with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Uganda Virus Research Institute on a new pilot study assessing the feasibility and impact of introducing menstrual cups in two schools.

Is that all we've been up to? Keep reading...

Project marathons

The Menstrual Cup Follow Up Study team led by Laura prepared for final data collection in Gulu.

WoMena's new Private Sector Fundraising Officer Anna & Research Officer Stella collected data in March in Kitgum district on long-term impacts of MC interventions.

With WoMena support, Welthungerhilfe launched a trial MHM intervention in Nakapiripirit district, which provided menstrual cups to young women involved in income generating activities. The cups and training have been positively received by the young women and WHH, WoMena & Ruby Life are exploring ways to scale up.

Senior Research Officer Simona explored with partners concrete strategies for how to improve WoMena’s male involvement strategy.

Training fiestas

Several internal trainings were held for WoMena's volunteers in Kenya and Uganda to prepare the volunteers to deliver WoMena trainings and project management.

Trainings were delivered for 80 teachers, girls, young women and men on use of menstrual cups & health in Entebbe plus reproductive & sexual health in Mpigi for SINA. WoMena has received a lot of positive feedback on our training approach and continue to improve our training materials based on experiences from all over the country.

Welcoming the new WoMena volunteers

This quarter, ten volunteers joined WoMena's fundraising, communication, finance and administration teams.  Four  in the Fundraising department, three in the Communications department, and two in Finance and administration. We are so happy to be growing not only in numbers but also impact.

WoMena on radio

Radio Wa aired the first show on menstrual hygiene management on the 12th of February out of a cycle of 6 talk-shows on the radio program, Women's hour. Listeners have the opportunity to call to ask questions and share their opinions on the program's Facebook platform.

For your valued engagement

We at WoMena are  constantly glad to receive various inputs on challenges we are facing or general input on the projects we are running. Usually such thoughts are shared on the WoMena facebook internal page, however, we would also be willing to share which ever way suits you best.
