Learning from CAB Feedback
Letter from Adriana Guzmán, Quality Manager
Two years ago ASI introduced a new step in our assessments: a follow up survey with Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) to receive feedback on assessment planning and process. So far this year, we have already received 68 responses from CABs – giving us direct feedback on roughly 30% of ASI assessments, with scores averaging 3.4 out of 4.
I read each response that is sent to ASI through this process, and in critical cases, together with the ASI Competence Manager, we start a dialogue directly with our team and the respective CAB. The information that we gather from this feedback is relevant, timely and immediately fed into our system, leading to increased monitoring or mentoring of ASI assessors, training opportunities and reviews of our procedures. It helps us understand the needs and questions that CABs have. We clarified the role of Technical Experts, for example, with an FAQ on our website. Positive feedback – which is expressed even in assessments with a high number of findings – is shared with our team, reinforcing efficiency and calibration.
Feedback on 30% of assessments so far this year is a good start. But I encourage all CABs to use this tool after each assessment to engage with me and our team directly. This feedback is especially useful when accompanied with qualitative examples and details, to facilitate oversight of our assessment activities and drive continuous improvement.
Looking forward to your feedback,
Adriana Guzmán Palacios
