KeKi is a learning organisation
The international dimension of KeKi’s working environment remains an important platform for knowledge transfer and knowledge co-creation on children’s rights. For this reason, KeKi took part in the Summer School – Learn about Children’s Rights Based Participation. The training was organised by the Centre for Children’s Rights at Queen’s University Belfast (UK) and took place from 1 to 3 June 2016. Three days of interactive workshops on theoretical aspects and practical applications of children and young people’s participation in research and policy gave us a lot of input to think our work through and develop new ideas on this very important children’s rights subject. Each day ended with room for 'Participants Showcases’. KeKi presented the state of the art of its work on the development of a reflection-tool for policy participation of children and young people.
This reflection tool, on its turn, builds partly on input we got during another training in Edinburgh in 2015. In February-March, we attended the CPD on involving children and young people in research and consultation. You can read about our experience and what we took home from Scotland in this blog post.

KeKi published about the best interests of the child
In 2014, the 25th anniversary of the CRC provided an excellent occasion to the Flemish government (Department of Youth) to commission KeKi to make a comprehensive overview of national and international standards that safeguard the best interests of children. This resulted in a study and a policy advice in English, which you can freely download from our website. The results of this research were presented at the European conference on this subject in December 2014. Recently, we made a summary of the documents, which also appeared in the record book of the European Conference.

KeKi gathers and shares knowledge about children’s rights
For our publications and consultancy assignments we always start from academic research. This knowledge we also gladly make accessible to you to the extent we can. Are you looking for support around the best interests of the child, juvenile justice, children’s rights education, political participation or other children's rights themes? Make sure to take a look in our children’s rights database, where a lot of interesting studies, publications and tools can be found. Thanks to our student assistants, the database is updated again this summer.
