After Hours Extra Inning: Library Games

Have you picked up your reading log yet? Completed reading logs are due back by Friday, August 26.
If you are already halfway through your reading log (20 books for ages 3-6 and 500 pages for ages 7-11), bring your folder to the library and show it to staff to receive an entry for the WILD CARD prize drawings.
Our weekly hidden sports equipment contest is finishing up in July, but you can still turn in your "1, 2, color my shoe" drawings through August 26. We'll also have a new estimation contest at the front desk in August. If you guessed that we had 69 golf tees in the jar in June, you were right!

Looking for something to do with the kids in August? We have a different drop-in program each week. Children ages 6 and under need to come with an adult.
- Building Party - Monday, August 1, 1-3 pm - Drop in for fun with blocks and LEGO bricks. All ages.
- Crafternoon - Tuesday, August 9, 1-3 pm - Be creative with the contents of our craft cupboards. All ages.
- Play-palooza - Wednesday, August 17, 9:30-11 am - Play with puppets, puzzles, and more. All children must be accompanied by at least one adult. For ages 0-6.
- Breakfast of Champions - Thursday, August 25, 9:30-11 am - Fun with breakfast food. Allergy warning: food will be consumed. For ages 7-11.

Library Decathlon Summer Reading forms are due back by August 26. Pick up a form at the library and turn in your completed form for a book, a prize, and contest drawing tickets.

Henna Designs

After years of our teen henna programs, we added an extra session last year so that adults could have fun, too. Here are five true things about henna that you should know:
- It's very fun, easy, and relaxing.
- No matter what you draw, it will look impressive to all your friends.
- If for some reason you don't love your design, it will fade in about two weeks.
- If you love your design (of course you will), it will still fade in about two weeks.

Book to Art Club: The Interestings

How it works:
Pick up a copy of the book at the library. Read the book (or part of it!) and meet for a casual discussion + an art project based on the book. No art experience necessary. We provide the supplies.
This month: The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer. Six teenagers meet at a summer art camp during the summer of 1974 and grow up together through decades of the American arts scene. We'll be making retro and summer camp crafts at the Rountree Gallery.
