- Signing Bonuses for New Middle School Teachers! We are pleased to offer a $5,000 Founding Teacher Stipend for new Epic Middle School Teachers in addition to our middle school signing bonuses.
- New Math or Science teachers are eligible for a $4,500 bonus ($1,500 upon completion of the first year, $1,500 upon completion of the second year, and $1,500 upon completion of the third year.) New ELA/Humanities teachers are eligible for a $2,500 bonus ($1,000 upon completion of the first year, $1,000 upon completion of the second year, and $500 upon completion of the third year.)
- Oakland Unified School District is now hiring teachers, Special Education teachers and support staff, and Classified Substitutes for the 2016-17 school year at our next hiring event on Tuesday, July 26, 2016.
Classroom Teaching Positions: If you have an interest in teaching in the classroom and have a teaching credential OR have a BA/BS and have passed the CBEST, please consider coming to our next Recruitment Event on July 26 to meet with school leaders and explore career possibilities.
K-12 Schools from across the District have been invited to come share about their school communities and the opportunities they have available at their sites. You will be able to meet with Principals and other School Leaders and explore career options as you visit the tables of the schools with the grades/subjects that are of interest to you. All subjects and grade levels are available.
Candidates who are interested in teaching science, math, Special Education and/or are Spanish bilingual/BCLAD are strongly encouraged to attend. Please bring copies of your resume and letter of of introduction, and be prepared to share what you're looking for in a school community and teaching opportunity. Though no interviews will take place at the event, you may want to come prepared to set follow-up meeting with school personnel if requested.
Classified Substitute Positions, Various: If you have a high school diploma and 48 college units or have passed the Para test, or have a BA, please consider coming to the event to interview for a Classified Substitute position with the Sub Team. Classified Substitute positions include: Sub Clerical, Sub Nutritional Services, Sub Instructional Support Specialist or Sub Para-educator. (We will not be interviewing for Sub Custodial.) Candidates can get more information about the Para-educator test at the event. There is also an attachment to this email with the Candidate Pathways Sheet, which shows the levels of education/certification required for many of our positions. Interviews will be conducted on a first-come, first-served, sign-up basis at the event. Questions about these positions or the interviews can be directed to Lynnette Calvin at lynnette.calvin@ousd.org.

Certificated Classroom Substitute Teacher Positions: We will NOT be interviewing for these positions at the event. If you have a BA and have passed the CBEST and wish to become a substitute classroom teacher in OUSD, you can attend our monthly Certificated Substitute interview session, which is held at 1000 Broadway in Oakland. You can register here and someone will be in touch to confirm your interview time and exact location. The link to register can also be accessed at OUSD.org/careers.
