Welcome back to all our Rustenburg families. 
 
We have hit the ground running since Monday, and it has been particularly exciting to start the term with the announcement of the appointment of Mr Michael Gates as our new principal from January 2017. 
 
A really warm welcome is extended to Mr Jaco Goosen, who has joined the Music Department in a permanent position this term.  We are delighted that he has decided to return to his Cape Town roots with his wife and two small daughters, and value the experience and expertise that he brings to Rustenburg. 
 
Elsewhere in this news bulletin you will be able to read about exciting activities and events, as well as the outstanding achievements of our girls, which have occurred over the past few weeks.  Since Wednesday, we have enjoyed being able to watch our 1^st Hockey Team play some of their Cape Town Tournament matches at school.  This team is enjoying a most successful season and we are proud of their achievements and conduct on the sports field.   
 
Please remember that on Tuesday 26 July there is the opportunity for parents and girls to meet with subject teachers to discuss academic matters.  This is effectively the last term for our Matrics and we wish them well as they prepare for their Preliminary Examinations.
 
Next week we will also host the School SleepOut, to raise awareness of the plight of the homeless and raise donations for various charities, along with the principals and girls of Wynberg, St Cyprians and Herschel.  We have chosen Klipfontein Primary School as our beneficiary.  This is a wonderful opportunity for girls and staff to step out of their comfort zones and ask the question, “Can empathy be taught?”
