We are all familiar with the concept of "justice for all" and with the phrase "if you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to you..." but, many people are not aware that an attorney is only provided in criminal cases. In civil (non-criminal) cases, such as eviction and foreclosure, domestic violence, child custody, education, health care and veterans' affairs, there is no right to an attorney.
