Be Here for the Welcome Picnic!
Christ Luther-Palooza is Sunday, August 28
August 28 will be a big day here at Christ Lutheran – Luther-palooza III!  Church service (9:30a) will include “blessing of the backpacks” to start off everyone’s school year. Students and teachers of all ages are welcome to bring their backpacks and briefcases (and themselves) for a quick blessing. PreSchool staff and families will enjoy Open House immediately following service. We’ll again have free picnic lunch for all, thanks to Lois Menis and the rest of our hospitality crew. We will have a sign up for donations of chips (individual bags to cut down on germs - great idea, Liz Pawlak), watermelon, cookies or cash ($5 suggested donation) to help cover the cost of hotdogs, buns, paper plates, etc. Last year we think we served more than 200 hot dogs – we lost track after our third trip to the grocery store!

Empty Bowls Planning has Begun
Looking for help in making this happen
Last year more than $1000 was raised for the COOL Food Pantry. We hope to do even more when we open our doors to the community on Sunday, November 6 for the Second Annual Empty Bowls Soup Supper. Are you looking for a painless way to give a little more to Christ Lutheran? Consider Manna Cards. Whether you're buying gift cards for others or using them for your own regular purchases, a portion of your purchase price automatically comes back to our ministries. Dozens of local vendors participate in this program that supports nonprofit groups – and for every dollar you spend our ministries receive 2 to 25 percent back! Check the Favorite Vendor List or explore on the Manna Website – www.mannaorders.net. Orders using a paper form and a check made out to Christ Lutheran will be turned in every two weeks. Cards are delivered to church within days. You can also go online any time to place an order, including some instant certificates that you can print immediately from your home computer. Online orders require you to set up a log in and payment account, but once you are set up, it is easy to do. Instead of taking cash or a credit card to the grocery store, use shopping cards! Our organization number is 2384.
