Telling the Story of Your Research, September 28


Want to make powerful arguments that resonate with research funders and the general public? Learn how to use storytelling to communicate your research on Wednesday, September 28 on the Tufts University Medford/Somerville campus. Randy Olson, PhD, a scientist-turned-filmmaker, will offer two sessions on his theory of narrative (outlined in his book, Houston, We Have a Narrative). 
  • 2:00-4:00PM: From Aristotle to South Park: The Central Role of Narrative in Research Communication
  • 5:00-7:00PM: Slicing Stories: Finding the Heart of Narrative

Five-week Writing Workshop for Researchers Starts October 5


Working on a grant proposal? Want to make your Specific Aims section stand out? Researchers of all specialties are invited to sign up for Developing Your Specific Aims: A Writing Workshop for Researchers. In five 90-minute sessions, you will learn how to improve the significance, approach, and innovation of your study, right from the first page.

The workshop will take place on Wednesdays (October 5, 12, 19, 26, and November 2) from 9:30-11:00AM at 35 Kneeland Street, 8th Floor Conference Room, Boston. Participants must attend all five sessions.

Together Empowering Asian Minds (TEAM) Receives $100K Grant

 
Congratulations to Together Empowering Asian Minds (TEAM) on the $100,000 grant they received from the Hope & Grace Initiative to launch a national public awareness campaign on Asian mental health. TEAM, managed by Chien-Chi Huang of Asian Women for Health (a Tufts CTSI partner) is a peer-led, Massachusetts-based coalition formed to address urgent and unique mental health challenges faced by Asian American women and their loved ones. The public awareness campaign will begin in fall 2016.
