ICOM 24TH GENERAL CONFERENCE MUSEUMS AND CULTURAL LANDSCAPES, 3-9 JULY 2016, MILAN, ITALY- ICOM-US:

Dear ICOM-US Colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who was able to join ICOM-US in Milan for the 24th ICOM General Conference. We are very proud to report that there were over 120 U.S. delegates in Milan, and ICOM-US was the in the top 5 of national committee delegations in attendance at the conference. We also awarded 10 travel grants to our membership to attend the General Conference this year.

We would again like to thank our members who were able to participate at the ICOM-US meet and greet and the ICOM-US evening reception in Milan. The evening reception was hosted by the US Consulate General in Milan at the beautiful residence of the Ambassador (pictured below). More than 150 guests attended the reception to celebrate our US delegation participation at the General Conference.

At the ICOM-US reception we announced some of our achievements as our membership numbers continue to soar, with over 1450 members- Largest in our history. ICOM-US is now in the top 7 of ICOM national committees and more importantly, 65 percent of our membership is actively involved in the 30 international committees. Additionally, ICOM US members are deeply involved with the organizations overall leadership by serving on numerous positions within the ICOM Executive, international, and technical committees.

As we expressed at the reception, these figures demonstrate how dedicated the US museum professional community is to participating and advancing the dialog on all aspects related to museum fields and the preservation and support of material and cultural heritage, which makes us very proud. Overall, the 2016 ICOM Milano General Conference was a successful and rewarding meeting for our membership in attendance and the entire ICOM organization. Thank you again to all that were able to join us!

Sincerely,

ICOM-US Co-Chairs,
Elizabeth Duggal and Kathy Dwyer Southern
