In late 2014 Panabrite’s Norm Chambers began stitching together recently collected bits of sounds and field recordings to create a sort of epic travelogue of ideas and movement, where things end up in stark contrast to how they begin. Initially Disintegrating Landscape was one continuous 47-minute piece, but has now been edited for cassette; each side a stand-alone piece with themes that recur throughout and carry on the idea of it as one larger piece. Chambers did a fair amount of traveling down the West Coast during the summer of 2014, collecting photos of many coastal regions and reflecting on the idea of the gradual decay of land into the ocean; of continuous movement and evolution. The music reflects this notion with its underlying bed of familiarity, yet the turbulence near the top is constantly shifting and eventually swallows everything.

Scott Tuma - Eyrie C39 Second edition now in stock and shipping after quick sell out last year
Scott Tuma is a luminary of the Chicago musical landscape from his days as guitarist in pioneering Chicago alt-country band Souled American to his work in the Boxhead Ensemble and Good Stuff House (with Matt Christensen and Mike Weis of Zelienople) and his collaborations with Jim White (Dirty Three, Xylouris White), Jim Becker(Califone), Jason Stein, Ben Boye, and Jaime Fennelly (Mind Over Mirrors). Since 2001 he has released an incredible run of albums under his own name, all performed, recorded, and mixed by Tuma from his home in Chicago. "Made By Nature" is a phrase Tuma uses to describe his way of life as he is constantly playing and recording, dependent upon the rhythms and distractions of home and capturing the environment around him. Tuma has accumulated a collection of recordings that date back to the mid-90's and he is constantly sifting through these recordings to remember things that might otherwise be forgotten.
Eyrie was recorded over the past year and features Tuma's close friend Matthew De Gennaro (Soft Abuse) on guitar for the song "F. March". Tuma and DeGennaro have played together often over the past decade, but this is the first time they appear together on record.

The video for "Blue Sands" from Zelienople's latest album Show Us The Fire was created by frontman Matt Christensen using municipal LA survey footage from the late 50's. The black and white footage matches the mood of the track perfectly.
Zelienople exist as a unique entry in the pantheon of Chicago musicians pushing the boundaries of genre. The quartet takes basic song-structures and textural palates of folk and rock and infuses them with the spontaneous fluidity of jazz and the shimmering haze of ambient music, emphasizing subtle facets of each genre to create their own individual style. Zelienople, like Codeine before them, are masters of hushed anxiety, burying anger and discontent under layers of reverb and masking it with slow tempos.
