Welcome to the July 2016 bulletin from Safekids Aotearoa Information Service.


We've divided the bulletin into four sections:  All the resources in this bulletin are searchable in the Online Information Search page on the website.

This month we are profiling several new Safekids publications - 2 new factsheets and the new Home Safety Campaign resources. 

Asian child unintentional injury : factsheet


This factsheet gives New Zealand death and hospitalisation data for Asian children between 0 and 14 years old.  It shows leading causes and gives suggestions for interventions.

This factsheet gives New Zealand farm injury death and hospitalisation figures for children between 0 and 14 years old. It shows leading causes and gives suggestions for interventions.

Make your home a safety zone [checklist]


The checklist has tips to help caregivers make their home safe for children. The sections include: living areas, bedroom, kitchen and laundry, bathroom, and outdoors.

Available as a single A4 page or in A4 pads of 100 or as an A3 poster.

Hazards around the home contribute to children experiencing injuries. This guidebook outlines ways that the risk of home injury to children can be reduced, for example through good planning and design of new homes, and maintenance programmes for existing ones. Primary target audience: landlords.
