Private Gallery Gathering and Stanley Burn Winter show - 26 November from 2pm

Please join me in the gallery for a pre-Christmas gathering and glass of wine. I have completed several new originals to show or release for the event, including my first ever painting of Prudhoe, 'Stanley Burn'; a Druridge Bay coastal seascape and 'Green Door, Riddlehamhope'. I also have new prints, including my Windows series 'Cobwebs' print; two originals from the secondary market just back to me in the gallery and a range of cards, calendars, posters and mugs. I look forward to seeing you there and welcoming you into the gallery.

'Stanley Burn, Prudhoe' , Unframed, Signed, 540 x 740mm, Limited Edition Print Run of 150, Digital Print, £145

'Druridge Bay,' Limited Edition Print of 150, £125, 400mm X 600mm, Digital Print

I have a new original of Prudhoe, Stanley Burn, to show at the pre-Christmas event. Turner painted Prudhoe Castle and the River Tyne back in around 1825, see below, and this seems the perfect way to mark my first Christmas with the gallery open to the public permanently in paint, almost two centuries later. I enjoyed painting the river and the fresh colours of early spring and may paint a series of the Burn in different seasons. I'm pleased to have new paintings in the gallery, as I have been busy in recent months painting commissions.

'Stanley Burn, Prudhoe,' Digital Print, Series of 150, 400 X 600mm, Unframed, Signed by the Artist, £145

See Turner's 'Prudhoe Castle' below.

This is a window I spotted in rural France when I was over there teaching last summer and I've spent some time painting it. The festooned, intricate cobwebs saturate the window with character and atmosphere. Nature's embellishments are usually the most inspiring - and challenging to capture.

Prints are for sale and will be on show in the gallery for the pre-Christmas gathering.

'Cobwebs,' Limited Edition Print of 150, 450 x 590mm, £120

This is an original watercolour I am releasing for the gathering of an old green door at Riddlehamhope Hall, near Hunstanworth and Blanchland. It was the entrance to the servants' quarters of the old hunting lodge there, now partly destroyed and derelict. The original watercolour is for sale and prints are also available.

There's a photo of the old lodge below. You may also recognise the window at the centre of the building, which I have also painted.

'Green Door, Riddlehamhope,' £1 500, Unframed, Original Watercolour, 305 x 545mm, Signed by Artist.
'Green Door, Riddlehamhope' Prints available for £95.
'Riddlehamhope,' Below, Windows Series, Unframed, Limited Edition Print of 100, Signed by Artist, £145, 325 x 390 mm
This 'Green Door' is an early painting that dates back to when I lived in Washington. Old houses like these were knocked down to make way for the new town. Local people used to paint on the fronts of these bricked up houses, like this one. I wanted to capture this old house before it was destroyed. This painting is now also available as a print.

'The Green Door,' Original Watercolour, £3 900, 610 x 445mm, Framed, Signed by Artist
'The Green Door' Open Edition Print, £125, 610 x 445 mm, Unframed, Signed by Artist
'Swallows' Nest' had a working title of 'The Three Chairs.' Noel Connor pointed out that the most interesting detail in the painting was the swallows' nest secreted in the beams and wrote a poem to accompany the painting. This painting sold immediately and has come back to the gallery now on the secondary market.

'Swallows' Nest,' Original Watercolour, Signed and Framed, 530 x 740mm, £4 500
'Swallows' Nest' Limited Edition Print of 100, £150, 530 x 740mm Approx, Digital Print, Signed and Numbered by the Artist, Paul Stangroom. Prints are normally Mounted, Backed and Cellophane Wrapped, unless you Specify Otherwise, Unframed

This is another painting that has come back into my life very recently and is now available as an original and print on my website: 'Old Ladakhi House' - was painted when I was in India. Once again, the most intriguing detail of the whole detail is the one that is almost hidden - the mysterious face, profiled in the bottom left window.

'Old Ladhaki House,' Original Watercolour, Framed, Signed by Artist, 745 x 560mm
'Old Ladakhi House,' Open Edition Print, 745 x 560mm, £120, Unframed, Signed by Artist
This is the latest in a series of paintings featuring Northumbrian coastal and river scenes. I enjoyed painting the vividly lit blues of the sky and the sea and capturing the grainy texture of the sand.
