Global Educator of the Year 2016 banner
Don't miss this chance to nominate someone for our Global Educator Award and get them some recognition for great global learning work. With the launch of the new UN Sustainable Development Goals, we’d love to hear about those individuals helping young people to understand and take action towards one or more of these goals!

Catherine Richardson, Programme Manager, says “I’m really excited about the chance to highlight and celebrate the amazing work we know is happening in this field, and to use this as a platform to inspire others!”

The winner of the award will receive £500 plus 2 free Think Global training places. The deadline is 27 May

Global Wallplanner for 2016-17

Helping schools celebrate global events

We're just putting the final touches to the design of our Global Wallplanner for the forthcoming 2016-17 school year. Our annual planner is a very popular resource in schools as it lists the main religious festivals as well as global days and weeks to help teachers plan ahead for global learning.

Preview of wallplannerHere's a sneak preview! This year’s planner will feature examples of people working in social and solidarity economies – alternative economic models working positively towards poverty alleviation.

Moira Jenkins, our Digital Programme Manager, says: "We're always on the lookout for partners and sponsors of our wallplanner. Get in touch with me if you're interested, or if you'd like to see a copy." Moira can be contacted on moira.jenkins@think-global.org.uk.

Putting global skills at the centre of our workplaces

Third and final event in the Think Global / British Council seminar series

The skills and behaviours that underpin success with the Sustainable Development Goals are also highly valued by employers around the world. They are seen as essential skills for the 21st century. This final seminar in the series looks at how the UK’s young people are being prepared for life and work in a global world.

Think Global Programme Manager Catherine Richardson said: “It has been fantastic to engage such a broad range of stakeholders during the seminar series so far. As always, I’ll be excited to hear participant thoughts and reflections on June 15th, and look forward to continuing the conversation beyond the series!”

A Big 'Thank You!'...

Thank you by Virgina L on Flickr.com... to teacher Stella Astill and her Year 4 class in a school based in Worcester - they've sent us a donation! Here's what Stella says:

"Last term my class completed a theme entitled 'Earth Entrepreneurs' where they learnt about different global issues and how we can help reduce them. Our learning included looking at our school and writing reports to teach others about how to be more Eco-friendly, writing poems about keeping our earth clean, completing projects about global issues and making new products from recycled materials in new 'businesses'. We sold these goods at an eco sale last Friday and managed to raise £100! The children have decided to split our money between 4 charities which help with global issues and as we have looked at your website and the good work you do educating others about global issues, they have decided to donate £25 towards helping you continue to run."

What a lovely gesture! We are so pleased to get this donation, and really happy to hear about the great global learning Stella has been doing with her class. We hope to feature the children's work on our website very soon.
