In my individual sport of cross-country skiing, my teammates and I relied on each other to enjoy (and endure) the training and travel. For this months topic we have three tips from a bonafide team athlete, 2x Olympian and 2012 Olympic silver medallist in rowing, Krista Guloien from Port Moody, British Columbia.
Krista joined the Fast and Female team as our BC Program Manager in early 2016 and her seamless fit with our team and can-do attitude made her first Champ Chat a great success.
1) Celebrate Individuality Teamwork isn't about all being the same. It's about pooling strengths, motivation and even weaknesses to make an even stronger unit together. We all filled different roles in the London Olympic 2012 women's team of 8.
2) Adversity is Fuel In 2009, our team came last in the A Final. We could have thrown in the towel and given up, but we didn't. We used that adversity as our fuel, kept each other accountable and believed we were capable of more.
3) Find Your Motivation I am motivated to show up for others. I used this in sport but also beyond that in my daily life and writing. I seek out accountability to a team because it makes me the best version of myself.
