Vicar’s Column
Dear ones in Christ:
This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, the start of a season that signals a shift from the long process of “coming into faith†that we explore in Lent and Easter, to “living in the light of what we believe†as we immerse ourselves in the life and energy of the Holy Spirit.
How are we experiencing this “shift into action†at St. Catherine’s today? Our Mission Committee is meeting this Saturday, and is already leading us in engaging various missional opportunities. Our Congregational Care Committee works faithfully in our midst, continually expanding the scope of what we offer to support each other through the ups and downs of life. Your response as a community to the needs of one family in need has been generous, with enough support provided that I anticipate being able to procure all or most of the immediate need. Thank you!
As I paint this picture of action and opportunity, I invite you to ponder where your own energy and time is called to be a part. Is this the time for you to move from occasional participant to having a more robust role in our “action†as a congregation? Imagine what we could do if every one of us sought a ministry component we could fill as part of the work of St. Catherine’s!
In Christ,
Patricia+

A Simple and Fun Way to Be Involved
in Congregational Care
For many years St. Catherine's attempted to send a hand-written birthday card in the mail every year to each member and friend listed in the church directory. The words inside the card were always the same: "Birthday Blessings" followed by the person's first name--a reminder that our lives and everything in them come from God.
Since we will soon have an up-to-date membership database, we would like to restart a birthday card ministry and include our Spanish language community. This is a fun way to make sure everyone in our church family knows we care about them.
If you would like to be part of the birthday ministry team, please let me know. Our goal is to have a team in place by June 4. If you know about making cards, I would also like to hear from you. In addition, please give Patricia your date of birth it you've not already done so.
Thanks!
