In Case You Missed It: "B'more Health Talk" on Mental Health and Trauma + Baltimore's New 24/7 Phone Number for Help

On April 29, the Baltimore City Health Department hosted a "B’more Health Talk" on mental health and trauma. Participants included some New Day Campaign partners and supporters. You can listen to the recording of this episode here.

A very important piece of information shared in this episode was that Baltimore City now has a Crisis Information & Referral line that residents can call 24/7 for mental health and substance use services. Callers can also get information about health insurance eligibility and enrollment. The number is 410-433-5175.

B’more Health Talks are twice-monthly virtual town hall meetings and are an opportunity for leaders in the Baltimore City community to discuss efforts to reduce health disparities, engage in the city's collaborative strategy, and share the work that organizations are doing.

On Sunday, June 12, New Day Campaign 2015 sponsor and partner the Kristin Rita Strouse Foundation is celebrating its 15th anniversary with a speaker event featuring Major General Mark Graham (Ret.) and Carol Graham. Ten years ago, General and Mrs. Graham lost both of their sons within months - one to suicide, and one to an IED in Iraq. Both young men were soldiers from a proud military family, yet they fought and died in very different battles.  The Grahams are inspiring speakers who will share their journey through suicide and grief and their work today as leading advocates for increasing mental health awareness, reducing the stigma of mental illness, and ensuring that troops and civilians receive care with dignity on their road to health and recovery.

As part of this event, the New Day Campaign will present Touched with Fire: Kristin & Elisif, an exhibition originally shown as part of the 2015 New Day Campaign. This powerful exhibition reveals an up-close and personal look at the artistry and illness of two women who died too young.

Get your tickets today. Special ticket price ($20) for suicide survivors, military/veterans, students, and seniors.
