Malone Gabor
My name is Malone Gabor. I am a junior at the George Washington University majoring in International Affairs and Spanish with a concentration in Latin American Studies. I am a member of GW's Cross Country and Track Teams so I love to run. I have traveled to Spain and Mexico before, but I have not fully immersed myself. I hope to learn a lot during these upcoming months! I am incredibly excited to work directly with an organization that bridges gaps between community development and institutional change. I cannot wait to get started in Yucatán!

"Don't let schooling interfere with your education." ~Mark Twain
Sarah Haque
My name is Sarah Haque and I am from Mclean, Virginia. I just completed my first year at The George Washington University, where I am a student in The Elliot School of International Affairs and intend on majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in International Economics. I am deeply interested in socioeconomic development because of my experiences while visiting my family in Bangladesh, an economically and structurally underdeveloped country. I look forward to exploring this field in the Yucatan region of Mexico and learning more about the roots, culture, and experiences of its people!

"Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" ~Martin Luther King Jr.
Emma Lutz
My name is Emma Lutz and I’m a junior, political science major with minors in Spanish and sustainability. I’ve always been interested in working to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty especially within Latin American communities. I'm very excited for this opportunity to work with Fundación Cielo and step out of my comfort zone! ¡Ánimo!

"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." -Thomas Edison
Nick Sosa
My name is Nick Sosa and I am a rising senior from Los Angeles, California. I am currently studying at the George Washington University in hopes of earning a degree in International Affairs with a concentration in Latin America. A fun fact about myself is that I love sports, in particular baseball. I fell in love with the sport at around 4 years old and till this day I continue to play. Opportunities do not come very often throughout one’s life and if I am able to give someone an opportunity for learning then I will do everything in my ability to help. Development work is important to me for this reason, being a first generation college student, I look to be a role model and a leader for a generation in hopes of achieving higher education. Please help fund our project as we seek to change lives through education.

“Service to other is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” ~Muhammad Ali
Paulina Zajac
My name is Paulina Zajac. I am a Chemistry major at the George Washington University, however my passion for development began while working with an organization, VivePeru, during the summer of 2015. I hope to eventually work in global health, focusing in the Latin American region. I love learning languages - and can ride a unicycle too!

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." ~Albert Einstein
Help our Interns!

Our interns are trying to raise $4,500 in order to cover costs for our program this summer. Donations will go towards covering all materials used for education, equipment for physical activity and education, facilitating the logistics of hosting health professionals to educate the town on prominent health concerns, the housing and food for our wonderful interns and much more!  With your help, you can make the program be the most successful one yet! Any money that is not used this summer will go into a savings fund. Our long term goal is to build a community center that the locals will be able to use for various events. This community center will employ construction workers from the municipalities and provide the town with an area to teach classes, basic skills, hold health clinics, and community events. With support from the town, and support from people like you, our donors, we will be able to provide Teabo and Chumayel with the best resources for improvement!
