Dear <<First Name>>
It's finally spring here in Minnesota where trees and flowers are exploding with color. In Honduras, coffee trees have recently bloomed in preparation for creating green and then red berries that become our delicious coffee beans. In celebration of all that blooming, we've prepared a slide show of flowers from Honduras for you this month.
Before we get to that, here is your monthly reminder that we are doing our May coffee deliveries next Friday, May 13. If you'd like to be added to our FREE delivery route this month, get your coffee order to us before noon on Wednesday, May 11 by contacting us at coffee@vfamilycoffee.com or 651-587-5356 or through our website. Your first bag is free if you tell us you want to start a new monthly coffee subscription. (Occasional orders are just fine too.) Our next delivery date will be Friday, June 10th. (If you are interested in a special coffee order - something unusual that we don't usually keep in stock let us know before we place our June roasting order on May 23).

Summer is Blooming
Here in Minnesota, May has arrived gloriously. Pink apple trees and purple lilacs and even cheerful yellow dandelions outside our window contrast so nicely with the newly green trees and bright blue sky. Guillermo's mother, Natalia, loves flowers and plants and so it seems only appropriate, with Mother's Day just around the corner, that we offer up a Facebook slide-show of some of our favorite flower photos from Honduras.
Perhaps you are eager to do some of your own gardening. In which case, here are a few resources and opportunities that you might enjoy.
- Gardening Matters - supports successful, sustainable gardens and inspires gardeners to build resilient communities as they grow their own fresh food.
- Cool Harvest - offers sustainable food and gardening resources for congregations and other community groups.
- Gandhi Mahal Interfaith Garden - On May 14th, help with Spring Planting at this interfaith Garden in South Minneapolis. The garden will be growing crops based on the traditional diets of Native American, Bangladeshi, Indian, and Scandinavian cultures to become an assortment of traditional dishes at Gandhi Mahal, as well as supply the healthy, traditional indigenous ingredients for meals prepared at First Nations Kitchen.
Happy Gardening!

Coffee Tasting at Sunrise Market - May 21
We've been happy to work with Sunrise Market for the past few years. This 100 year old family business is a great fit for our family's coffee! It's exciting to hear that they are doing well in their new location at 1085 Grand Avenue in Saint Paul and to read good press like this recent article in the Star Tribune.
We're going to hang out at Sunrise Market sampling our coffee on Saturday May 21st from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. We invite you to stop by to say hi, pick up one of their signature pastries in the morning, have a slice of yummy pizza over lunch, and shop from their little market that features their locally made gourmet pasta -- and Velasquez Family Coffee!

Climate Action: Send a Kid to Camp
Climbing trees, swinging from vines, building forts, playing hide and seek, becoming animals, making masks, creating music, discovering the interconnectedness of all things, uncovering the gift of oneself to the community, belonging to the human, and the natural world: This is the world that will be created at All in the Circle Creative Arts & Nature Camp!
All in the Circle Camp is carefully designed to give children the opportunity to fall in love with the earth and to be co-creators of a culture of kindness. Informed by the wisdom, teachings and experience of educators, spiritual leaders, and developmental psychologists, children gain the skills and “know-how” to live peacefully with each other and the natural world.
The camp will be held this summer, Monday - Friday, August 1-5, and 8-12, 9:00-3:00 at Prospect Park United Methodist Church in Minneapolis for Campers entering grades 1-8. Scholarships are available. For more information and to register visit the camp webpage or call 612-378-2380. (Even if you don't know any potential campers, you can help by sponsoring a camp scholarship.)
