The Junior Elite Training Squad (JETS) has been announced!

The JETS squad selection process was incredibly difficult this year due 62 high calibre of applications being received. To select the final squad, three selectors were appointed, and graded each applicant on a scale of 1-5, taking into account areas that included improvement, potential and enthusiasm. The combined grading's were then used to rank the applicants, taking into account that a each gender was at a minimum to represent one third of the squad.

Congratulations to those who have made the squad, I'm sure it will be an exciting and challenging experience! To those who missed out, I hope that you continue to work on and enjoy your chess and look forward to seeing your applications come through next year.

The 42nd Olympiad is being held in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku, using the spectacular Crystal Hall as the playing venue.

Unlike most competing nations, the Australian teams receive no government support and must pay their own way, a burden compounded by the distance involved from Australia to Azerbaijan and the corresponding high air fares (the cheapest as at the end of April were via Seoul and Istanbul, taking 48 hours). They can't do it alone, but depend on the support of the Australian chess community.

We ask you all to give what you can to the ACF Olympiad Appeal.
No donation is too large or too small.
