Windsor Castle Trip
Our Year 10 GCSE History trip to Windsor Castle was a great day out. Whilst we were there, we got to see and experience some really fascinating things, learning about the history of the castle and seeing all of the historic buildings and artefacts. Starting off the day was visiting St. Georges Chapel, which had lots of gothic architecture, and also lots of information about the Kings and Queens who have resided at the castle in the palace. We then had a ‘lesson’ about the history of the castle, learning about the battles at the castle and why certain features are as they are today. Following lunch, we toured the main part of the castle, viewing lots of royal art and historic memorabilia.

Overall, the Windsor trip was a success. I would recommend it for next year’s GCSE year 10 group as it provided us with lots of information for our assessment.

This is the final Parents' Evening of the year.  Years 7 and 11 have had priority bookings.  However if parents of students from any other year would like to see a teacher, either ask your son or daughter to make an appointments or e-mail the tutor to help with making an appointment.

A Year 11 Revision Special
The exam season for year 11 students is now underway. By the time you read this all year 11 students will have completed their English exam and some would have performed their final Drama piece in front of an external moderator.

It is therefore critical that all year 11 students are making the most of both the time, resources and support available to them in the coming weeks.

This support will take many forms both inside and outside school.

On the school website you will find a link on the homepage to our Year11 Revision site
Clicking on the red hyperlink will take you to the Year 10 and 11 Revision site.
A further click will give you access to the site itself.
The revision site has been populated with resources that are aimed at supporting student revision across a wide range of subjects.
Also on this page you will find a link to the ‘Revision Planner’. All students were given a copy of this planner before Easter. It contains details of:
  • How to use the planner
  • Key organisational details about the exams
  • A full list of all exams so students can plot when they have each exam and therefore the gaps in between. This should help them plan and prioritise their revision
  • A calendar where they can plot their exams, revision and any extra support sessions
  • A week by week breakdown of their exams and support sessions
In relation to the final bullet point, as student’s complete exams we are using the time that has been freed up to provide them with extra support lessons in key subjects. Currently this is Maths/Science. You will see this indicated in the Revision planner – example below.
