A Good Jew - Trailer

Hooray! You've scrolled down this far!

Now... let us tell you what people are already saying about

"A Good Jew"

“Your best work yet” Tracy Barr, Arundel, 29th April 2016

“... mind-blowing play last night... beautifully written and portrayed absolutely brilliantly by the entire cast. My mind is still buzzing. It is also worth mentioning that the scene changes are ingeniously choreographed. Thank you to all concerned for a spectacular evening.” Jane Vrettos, Arundel, 29th April 2016

“Excellent, so pleased I came to see it tonight.” Marion Milton, Arundel, 29th April 2016

“An incredible play... brilliantly cast and acted. A really uncomfortable experience – in the best possible way! I had my eyes closed for some of the scenes – so life-like. And the different stage sets, and costumes, albeit simple, moved the play forward in a very clever way.” Kathy Hammond, Arundel, 30th April 2016

“We’ve not stopped talking about it!... very high quality …. such a moving piece of drama. The cast were brilliant .... The mother and son scene …. was the most powerful piece of drama I have seen in a very long time. I thought the way in which the propaganda pieces were depicted was ingenious and chilling. In short, we thought it was a brilliant and powerful depiction of well known historical events told in an inventive and very personal way.
….. thank you once again for such a wonderful experience and I hope that the production goes from strength to strength.” Claire, Arundel.

“Chilling analysis of what humans do to survive. Theme of identity struck home for me.Timely, universal content. Thank you!” Diana Moon. Audience, Arundel, 29th April 2016

"A Good Jew"
Running through May & June

1938: Lovers Sol and Hilda play together in the Frankfurt Sinfonietta. But Hilda’s father is a Nazi Official, and Sol is Jewish.

As Sol's family is scattered by deportation, his mother gives him fatal advice: “Survive. At all costs” Thus, through assuming Aryan identity, Sol relinquishes his roots, his love, his art, his baby sister Anja. Can Hilda, by herself posing as a Jew, save them all from the grim Nazi show-camp that is Theresienstadt?

“…a must-see ….. his performance is very accomplished, bringing to life the showman for a 21st century audience.    This is a royally good show, created by someone who clearly loves the city of the current and the past in equal parts.”  The Brighton Argus. May 2013.

“I really enjoyed it tonight. You are a great performer and able to play to the strengths of the script, *making* the twists and turns of character really clear…… clever and funny. Well done! A tour de force of a performance!” Sara Clifford, Playwright

George is a king in waiting. Kept to the wings and given no role by his pious, over-controlling and distant father he turns to A life of hedonism. Cavorting, women, building, gambling, driving, drink and laudanum all become close to his heart,

As he moves to his next project, his Brighton Pavilion, he is forced to change the course of a hidden river that runs through the centre of the town. Unbeknownst to him, the ancient river has its allies in the underworld, and George finds himself caught up in adventures, that his father considers unholy, in a bid to find out what wisdom his own unbidden children have to tell him.

“… the captivating vitality of Brown’s multifaceted performance transport us…..presented confidently and honestly.  Vast emotional range is reached  A fantastic insight into the Fringe’s host city;  Brown shines in his convincing depiction of a man who helped birth Brighton and the scandal that makes this city what it is.”  Broadway Baby.
