Working together to change the face of children's literature

A Place at the Table 2016

Important news!  We are delighted to tell you that a second 'A Place at the Table' event will take place on 15 June. Key parties from across the book world will come together to review progress and ensure the continued move towards a more inclusive and diverse children’s book landscape. This workshop follows the success of the first event in January 2015 and is back by popular demand. We look forward to working with delegates from last year, as well as welcoming new colleagues from across the industry and beyond.

The workshop will be split into two parts. The first will feature a range of inspirational speakers who will offer food for thought and updates on key developments. This will be followed by round-table activity to allow for open discussion and the opportunity to bounce ideas, share concerns, seek out solutions, plan your own next steps and pick the brains of a range of experts. The will also be the opportunity to review and refine the Everybody In charters.

Speakers will include Candy Gourlay, booksellers and members of Inclusive Minds' new network of Young Ambassadors for Inclusion and Diversity.

The workshop is primarily designed for those working directly in the children's book industry: publishing staff, agents, booksellers and book buyers, authors and illustrators. We regret that due to the limited capacity of the venue, places are limited to one per company/organisation (we may be able to count separate imprints within a publisher as different organisations, dependent on space – please contact us to discuss) and the event will not be open to students or bloggers. We may have a limited number of 'other' tickets for those not currently working directly in the roles listed above.

The event is run in association with The Publishers Association and will be held at their premises in London.

Last year, the event was over-subscribed, so do book your place quickly and contact us if you have any questions. We really look forward to seeing you at what we hope will be an enjoyable afternoon of discussion, inspiration and valuable new information. Together we can ensure that the move towards a truly inclusive children’s book landscape takes another major step forward.
