As our friends in Japan celebrate "Golden Week," The Congressional Study Group on Japan takes time for both celebration and reflection. We remain encouraged by the strong showing of Japanese visitors to the US that this week traditionally brings. Among the 91 foreign recipients is our own Connie Morella, Past President of the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress, which serves as the secretariat for The Congressional Study Group on Japan.

Connie will receive The Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, which is the second-highest honor given to civilians, for "promoting Japan-U.S. legislative exchange, and maintaining and deepening the Japan-U.S. alliance through the promotion of enhanced understanding of Japan in the U.S. Congress."
