latest updates on upcoming events and clinics at the Club.
Wednesday night at 7:15, we have a meeting for the Golf Club
of Illinois Junior Golf League. This is completely separate from the PGA Junior
League, this is an in house league open to Boys and Girls between the ages of
12-17 (younger players can play up based on ability) A team format, matches are
played and points awarded for match play (hole by hole) and medal play (score)
Additional points are awarded for the team score in the head to head matches.
Teams are formed by a blind draw with players flighted by their ability (3 nine
hole rounds are required by June 1st) Based on a field of 48 players,
8 teams will consist of 6 players in 6 flights.
League play is on Mondays starting June 13th through
August 1st (July 4th there is no play) with T-Times
beginning at 7:30 A.M. There is also a Club Championship scheduled for August 8th,
prizes will be awarded to 1st and 2nd place finishers in
3 flights.
Entry Fee: $329.00
Entry fee includes: Green Fees, Foot-Joy Shirt, Titleist Foot-Joy hat,
Foot-Joy glove, bag tag, opening night introduction and team draw on June 8th, and an end of season cookout with prizes awarded to the top 2 teams.
The entry fee also includes $25 guaranteed value to the Illinois Junior Golf Association ($15 off membership registration and $10 off a tournament registration with the opportunity for a $30 additional value of a C.D.G.A. Handicap Index that you would receive upon IJGA membership registration).

We still have a few openings for the PGA Junior League, if you were unable to make the meeting last Wednesday. The deadline for registration is May 11th in order
to receive our uniforms for our 1st match.
The P.G.A. Junior Golf League is designed and conducted by the P.G.A. of America for 7-13 year olds. Inter-club matches are played for 5-6 weeks starting in June and culminating in an all-star team from the area courses. Included in the fees are 3 practice sessions (2 clinics and 1 practice match) Shirts, Foot-Joy glove, bag tags, and green fees at all matches. This is a traveling team that will play host for 2-3 matches and visit 2-3 other clubs.
Dates: Clinic dates are May 15th and 22nd at 3:00, the
practice match is June 5th at 4:00
The tentative schedule for the matches is as follows:
June 4th is a bye week
June 11th GCI plays at home vs. Crystal Woods Golf Course
June 18th GCI plays at home vs. Crystal Lake Country Club
June 25th GCI plays away at Pinecrest Golf Course
July 2nd all teams are off for the holiday
July 9th GCI plays away at Boulder Ridge Country Club
July 16 are the playoffs
First place vs. Second place
Third place plays 4th place
Fifth place plays against a team formed from the other clubs

The LPGA has approved GCI as an official Girls (ONLY) Golf site, one of only a handful in
the Chicago area. Clinic information can be found by clicking here, this week
we will have an updated offer from the LPGA for Girls Golf participants. For a
$16 membership fee, girls will receive a package of gear valued at $45 and
other benefits.
Now for the older crowd, I have scheduled some clinics for the adults, if you already play, maybe pick up a couple of new thoughts, this would also be a good starting point for
beginners to get their feet wet.
And finally, the Senior Clinics will again be held on Thursday mornings, May 12, 19, 26th
from 9:00-10:00. Starting June 2- August 4th senior’s clinics will be Thursdays
from 7:45-8:45 A.M. C’mon out and have a cup of coffee and Country Doughnuts
doughnut, grab a large basket of range balls and join me up on the tee or
putting green, to work on whatever part of your swing you feel you need help
with.
