Pillar's slick double play

Games played May 3, 2016

Milwaukee RF Ryan Braun was perfect at the plate in Monday's 8-5 win over Anaheim, stroking a double and two singles, drawing a walk, and driving in his 21st run. It was his second straight 3-hit game. Things were more mixed on the basepaths, with Braun scoring from first on a double but also getting picked off at first base.

Blue Jays CF Kevin Pillar had a great game, singling twice, doubling, and scoring Toronto's lone run in a 2-1 loss to Texas. He also secured an inning-ending double play by catching a fly ball and tossing out a runner trying to tag up at second base. Pillar's three assists rank 2nd among A.L. center fielders.

Athletics 3B Danny Valencia went hitless in a rehab assignment with the franchise's High-A team. He's expected to return to Oakland's lineup on May 6.

Cubs Triple-A farmhand Ryan Kalish is eyeing a possible return to the big leagues. Ranked among the Pacific League's top 5 in average and on-base percentage, Kalish reportedly is one of three minor leaguers who could get a call-up due to injuries among Chicago outfielders.

Former major leaguer Ike Davis won't be called up anytime soon, but he broke out of a slump in a big way Monday. After managing just one hit in his first 7 games with the Rangers' Triple-A club, he had three hits and 5 RBIs Monday in a 11-10 win, including a bases-loaded double.

Detroit 2B Ian Kinsler and Dodgers CF Joc Pederson didn't play as their teams were idle. Houston's Scott Feldman, Miami's Craig Breslow, and Cincinnati's Jon Moscot also didn't play.
