CINTESIS participation in the AAL Programme
The AAL Programme is the funding activity that aims to create better conditions of life for the older adults and to strengthen the industrial opportunities in Europe through the use of information and communication technology (ICT). It carries out its mandate through the funding of across-national projects (at least three countries involved) that involve small and medium enterprises (SME), research bodies and user’s organisations (representing the older adults).
The Programme supports applied research on innovative ICT-enhanced services for ageing well, with a time to market of 1 to 3 years.
In its vision, business innovation and the application of technology-based solutions will enable people to live their lives to the fullest, where and how they choose. It intends to promote a society in which the application of technology and innovative new services and systems creates a level playing field for all, with regard to both consumer markets and services provided to the public. Furthermore, these technologies and services have the clear potential to generate jobs and boost the growing Silver Economy.
The calls typically cover topics like 'Prevention and Management of Chronic Conditions', 'Advancement of Independence and Participation in the Self-Serve Society' and 'ICT based solutions for Supporting Occupation in Life of Older Adults'.
The recently funded Active Advice project, in which CINTESIS researchers Constança Paúl, PhD, Pedro Rodrigues, PhD, Alberto Freitas, PhD, Pedro Marques, PhD e Ana Margarida Ferreira, PhD are involved, aims to deliver a fully functional ICT environment with specific web and mobile services for older adults and their relatives, for professionals in inclusive design and construction engineering across Europe, as well as for governments and municipalities involved in Active and Assisted Living (AAL).
Considering the scope of the programme, AAL is an excellent opportunity for CINTESIS researchers to apply for funding.
