Activities Update
Volunteer Recognition - 29 offices nominated individuals to be recognized as the Community Futures Volunteer of the Year in their local communities. Volunteers were presented with a certificate and gift.
Community Futures sponsored the "Nourish and Flourish" conference of the BC Association of Farmers Markets in March in Kelowna, raising awareness of the Community Futures program among the attendess
Junior Dragons Den had their Championship on May 7 in Trail BC. Dave Marshall represented Community Futures BC as a dragon. Check out their Facebook page for photos / videos and more information on the event.
Community Futures Stó:lō announced the formation of the Stó:lō Business Association on March 31 at an event at the Coqualeetza Longhouse. The new association is modeled on existing chambers of commerce, and will offer business tools, networking and other benefits to First Nations businesses.
Entrepreneurs with Disabilities lending had the best year ever, with $1.579 Million being lent to 49 businesses, creating 105.5 jobs. Community Futures EDP loans are being promoted on Facebook from June 1 to September 30. The ads direct interested individuals to a landing page where their contact information is collected.
