National Military Appreciation Month

Congress designated May as National Military Appreciation Month in 1999 to ensure the nation was given the opportunity to publicly demonstrate their appreciation for the sacrifices and successes made by our service members - past and present. Each year the president makes a proclamation, reminding Americans of the important role the U.S. Armed Forces have played in the history and development of our country.

May was selected because it has most days set aside for celebrating and commemorating our military's achievements. These days include Loyalty Day, which was established in 1921, Victory in Europe (VE) Day commemorating the end of WWII in Europe on May 8, 1945, Armed Forces Day created in 1949, Military Spouse Appreciation Day established in 1984, and of course the best known of the May holidays, Memorial Day.

CLC Staff Highlights

The Children’s Learning Centers is happy to announce that Mr. Arturo Barillas-Batarse has been hired as the Assistant Teacher in Fireflies!

Mr. Arturo has a BA in Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies and is currently working on his teacher certification. In addition, he was a Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps for 5 years. He worked as a Student Assistant at the Children’s Learning Centers from January 2015 to December 2015 with children ages 2 to 5.

We are also excited to announce Ms. Amparo Bercik's promotion from Assistant Teacher to Associate Teacher in the Lime Room. Ms. Amparo has a Child Development Associates Credential (CDA) from the Council for Professional Recognition and has worked as an Assistant Teacher in the SLI preschool program at CLC since October of 2012. Her previous work experience includes 3 years as a private child care provider and Spanish teacher at a children’s preschool.

Your preschool year is officially complete,
You're a graduate now, isn't that neat?

You've learned so many things throughout the year,
And you're ready for Kindergarten, have no fear.

Your lifetime of learning has only just begun,
Great things are in store for you, and much more fun.

Remember the friends that you made here,
And so many memories filled with cheer.

We can only imagine the wonderful things you'll do,
So congratulations our students, We are so proud of you!
