Goal #2: Show the Work

I’m happy to share that my work “Lois & Florence” will be included in a group Student show at the Kondos Gallery on the Sacramento City College campus. I’ve also entered some work in the State Fair art competition and am working on my entries for the Axis Juried Show. It was quite a process to photograph my work and edit all the images! But the sense of pride and accomplishment at my meager collection makes me warm and happy. On to framing!

The Craft Show Circuit

I’ve now got three craft shows/pop up stores under my belt! The one in my driveway was the most successful, thank you to all those who came down with shirts in hand and supportive spirits. My first at the TUBE market was ok, and the one I did last weekend was a cold and windy failure. Ah well.

I’m not sure if the craft shows are for me… I’m excited to do a slightly different type of craft event at Track 7 Brewery in Curtis Park on June 11th from 4:00 PM8:00 PM. I’ll be carving a special Track 7 block for printing on your shirt! I’ll also have some pre-printed shirts for sale, mostly tanks and tees.

Learning & Teaching

I had a great time learning sun printing with Linda Clark Johnson! I got some interesting results with transparencies and another test planned. My semester learning Collage and Assemblage at Sac City College is nearly over, but I had a great time. Our final project is to deconstruct and reconstruct a wooden chair. I’ve got my draft/idea of what I’ll make but implementation is proving a challenge with my limited woodworking skills (and the density of this rock-wood chair).

I’m excited to be updating curriculum for the Creative Web Design class I’m teaching again at Sacramento City College. It’s all WordPress now and very business-focused. If you think you might want to run your own site or make a few websites please consider signing up. The class will be held Monday nights this fall.

Save the Date: Sacramento Open Studios Tour September 10-11

Come by and check out the it-must-be-finished-in-time summer studio (aka the garage) open for the studio tour. Bring a shirt for printing, make some art, browse other goods, have a beverage, and chat.

Thanks for reading and supporting my adventures! Have a great week!
