Celebrate the Appearance of Lord Narasimha!

Honouring the Amazing Half-Man, Half Lion form of Krishna!

On Friday May 20, 2016, the Toronto Hare Krishna Temple will celebrate Narasimha Caturdasi - the Appearance of Lord Narasimhadeva. Lord Narasimhadeva is one of Lord Krishna’s incarnations in the form of half-man and half-lion. Lord Narasimhadeva descended to protect his young devotee Prahlada from his torturous father, King Hiranyakashipu.

There many prayers to Lord Narasimha that invoke powerful mantras for protection, appealing to the Lord's half-lion incarnation and His weapons. These are for protection from such things as malevolent spirits and material desires, as well as increased devotion and a peaceful world.

We humbly invite you to join us to celebrate Nrsimha Caturdasi on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Hare Krishna Temple! Keep an eye on our website for more information in the coming weeks!

12 HOUR KIRTAN - As July quickly approaches, the temple will be kicking off the 44th Annual Ratha-Yatra (Festival of India) with our annual 12-Hour Kirtan on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 10am to 10pm. There is no better way to prepare to celebrate Ratha-Yatra (Festival of India) than by singing and dancing for Lord Jagannath for 12 hours straight! The 12-Hour Kirtan will feature kirtaniyas around the world. Kirtan is a form of devotional chanting whose roots go back to ancient India. It has the power to open the heart and is a very simple and powerful way to meditate and connect your inner-self to a higher energy. In its heartfelt expression, kirtan can induce profound states of meditation, bliss and ecstasy. Visit the Festival of India website for more information and don't forget to book the day off from work!
