Advisory board expands, European industry experts added to product and strategic initiatives
L - R: Dr. Ivan Vesely, Karim Mouneimne, Vincent Garitey
We're pleased to announce three additional industry leaders will be supporting ViVitro’s global growth and broadened cardiovascular device testing applications.
Dr. Ivan Vesely, Vascular Product Technical Specialist at BSI, and noted heart valve scientist formerly from The Cleveland Clinic, joins the ViVitro Labs business advisory board.
Two principals of PROTOMEDLABS SAS, ViVitro Labs sales agent for Europe, Africa, and Israel, will add their extensive industry experience to ViVitro product applications and strategic direction initiatives. Karim Mouneimne, President, and Vincent Garitey PhD, Vice President of Engineering, will work directly with the ViVitro Labs team to create new products and services that meet the expanding need for cardiovascular repair device testing, simulation and training.
New calcification test service
Figure 1: 3D reconstruction of the calcified heart valve, the calcium deposits are shown as colored regions.
ViVitro Labs now offers a calcification test service for bioprosthetic valves and other cardiovascular devices. Devices are installed into the HiCycle durability tester and a ViVitro-developed calcification solution is flushed into the chambers resulting in flow-induced calcium deposition onto the device.
This is useful for comparing device designs, including anti-calcification treatments, for propensity to calcify. It can also be useful for identifying regions of the device which are more susceptible to calcification.
The degree of calcification can be quantified using µCT or histology upon request. Combine calcification testing with hydrodynamic testing to quantify any performance change in the samples.
