Spruce Pine Farmer's Market Every Wednesday

This week at market we have veggies! We will have cabbage, asparagus, radish, and kale. We also have local meats, breads, chocolates, goat cheese, fresh eggs, baked goods and more. Come see us this Wednesday from 2-5pm at the Pizza Shop and Dry County Brewing Company.


Steel Magnolias Wraps Up This Weekend at Parkway Playhouse

Emerald Village on WLOS

Watch WLOS-TV13 next Monday morning, May 23rd when owner Alan Schabilion will be interviewed twice on the popular ABC morning news program.   Get an early start on your day and watch the first interview at 5:15 AM. A different presentation will follow at 6:15 AM. Learn about what’s new at Emerald Village as well as details about MineFest, a special 2-day event at Emerald Village on Saturday, May 28th and Sunday, May 29th

MineFest features, among other things, live music concerts, good food, a kid’s treasure hunt, guided hikes to hidden mines, demonstrations of cliff rappelling, and free talks about historic mines and the discovery of a 1567 Spanish Fort in the area! Enjoy a free Saturday evening concert in the tent, followed by a special night-time underground black light mine tour, by admission. Can’t watch the broadcast on Monday, May 23

Burnsville Wine and.. Events

Stop by Burnsville Wine, Friday May 20th, 4-7 for our Friday Evening Wine Tasting, featuring a Spanish Tempranillo and Sparkling Strawberry. The Tempranillo is a young fruity wine, while the Sparkling will be a great wine to enjoy during the warm weather.   The tastings are free, but you must be 21 to attend.

During your adventures along the Blue Ridge Parkway, you may encounter wildlife. This can be an awe inspiring event or one filled with fear. Come find out how to deal with these encounters so that both you and the wildlife can continue to enjoy your time along the Parkway.

Can you find dinosaur fossils in the mountains around here? This is a frequently asked question by our Park visitors.  Learn the answer and more about dinosaurs, fossils, geology and paleontology of the mountains of Western North Carolina at this ranger led program.
