Scottish Golf – Girls

Scottish Golf is delighted to announce a programme of on-course coaching events for girls this summer.

Building on the SLGA Golf Girls programme first run in 2015, this is an opportunity for girls to come together and play with others of a similar age, to break down some of the barriers which limit their enjoyment of the game and ultimately can see them giving up the sport.

The programme is aimed at girls aged between nine and 16 who have been playing golf for at least a year, or are at stage two of the ClubGolf programme, and who may or may not yet have a handicap. It is designed to give the girls a great experience so they will continue to develop their game, get their handicap, and play the game for life!

Tuesday 10th May Medal

And Finally, in sunnier but equally windy conditions, Barry Rodgers, with a 67, won Tuesday's Medal. Well done Barry!

Ali Graham

It is with some regret that we announce that one of our young greens keepers, Ali Graham, will be leaving the staff this week, to take up a new position elsewhere. We wish Ali all the best for the future, and thank him for his hard work as part of the team.

He won’t be a stranger totally, and we should still see him on the fairways, but only in a playing capacity. The process to replace him is already underway.

Ed Wood

Some significant early season sucess is being experienced by our current Club Champion, and Vice Captain, Ed Wood.

As part of the 2016 Order of Merit, sponsored by First Tee Fitness, a 36 hole Open scratch competition, he currently leads the Order of Merit with two successive wins.

The first success was at Falkirk Tryst, in the Tryst Trophy, where rounds of 71 & 69 for a level par total of 140 were enough to take the honours.

This was quickly followed up at Cawder, in the MacKinnon Wood, where rounds of 66 & 73 for a one-under total of 139, again took pole position.

The Crow Wood Garnkirk Trophy, to be played on Sunday 11th September will be one of the closing events of the Order of Merit. Craig Taylor is also competing in the competition, and is currently sitting fourth in the standings.

Next up for Ed and Craig is the 36 hole open at Blairgowrie where Ed will be defending the title he won last year.

Ed noted that part of the reason he was able to get off to such a good start to the season is the fact that our greens have been in such excellent condition all winter, and the transition to competitive golf was therefore much easier.
