It's Friday 13th

Hello and happy Friday.
Today I'd like to share a little bit about branding.
I often get asked 'When is a good time to brand and how much will it cost?'
There are so many options out there that it can feel like a mine field...
From £50 for a logo online to anything up to £100'000 by a design agency, how much do I need to invest?

DON'T INVEST IN A BRAND
if you have an idea and want to test the water with your product to see if you have an audience.

Do you know how Innocent Drinks started? I love their story.
Before they decided to put everything they had into creating their brand and turned into the highly successful international business it is today, they tested their audience at a music festival.
They had a small stall where they made smoothies with a banner at the top saying:
'Should we quit our day jobs and do this full time?'
They had two bins, one on the left with NO and one on the right with YES.

At the end of the festival, the bin with YES was overflowing and the bin with NO only had a couple of cups in it. You can read the full story here

If you have an idea but aren't sure if there is a market for it - don't spend hundreds on a brand. Create a low cost website with your key messages and products and see what the response is like.

INVEST IN A BRAND
when you know your business, your target audience, the products and services you provide and the difference you want to make in the world with it.

Your brand will be with you for 10 to 15 years. It will evolve with you and needs to reflect your values, your vision and what you stand for. Your brand is the life-force of your business, its visual DNA.

Choose a designer or branding agency who you enjoy being with, they will become a part of the heart of your business and will help you hold your values and make sure your messages are aligned with who you are.

Every brand has a story.
If you want to discover yours, come to The Heart & Soul of Your Business Workshop and explore what's unique about your brand. If you're quick, you may still get an early bird ticket today.

If you are in London this summer, don't miss The Hive in Kew Gardens. Designed by Wolfgang Buttress for the UK Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015, it promises to amaze and delight the senses.

And a fascinating TedX Talk by a Neuroscientist on the effects of fasting on the brain

Wishing you a fab weekend.
With love
