Reminder: Monday Deadline for Bridge Funding

Accolades


For Training Delivery for Constables Basic, Continuing Education, Firearms, and Optional Training, Anthony Luongo (Criminal Justice) has received a continuation of funding from the Pennsylvania Commission On Crime And Delinquency.
 
NIH has invited Ingrid Olson (Psychology) to serve as a member of the Cognition and Perception Study Section, Center for Scientific Review through 2020.  Per NIH, “Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements and honors. Service on a study section also requires mature judgment and objectivity as well as the ability to work effectively in a group, qualities we believe Dr. Olson will bring to this important task.”
 
Lori Pompa (Criminal Justice) has been awarded funding from the Kalliopeia Foundation for The Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program.
 
For his work on a project entitled, Social-spatial risk and protective mechanisms in urban adolescent substance use, Jeremy Mennis (GUS), has received a continuation of funding from the Virginia Commonwealth University.
 
Lauren Alloy (Psychology) has received a continuation of funding from NIH for her research entitled, Risk for Bipolar Disorder: Reward-related Brain Function & Social Rhythms.
 
Anthropology doctoral student Nathan Jessee has been awarded a National Academy of Sciences Gulf Research Program Science Policy Fellowship. The fellowship involves working for one year "on the staff of a state environmental, natural resources, oil and gas, or public health agency; or regional offices of relevant federal agencies in the Gulf region. Fellows will participate in and contribute to the state or federal policy-making process." Nathan is mentored by Damien Stankiewicz.

Important Reminder for June NIH Applicants-Updating Bios
For all of our upcoming NIH applicants, please remember that NIH has moved to the use of a new form set (Forms D). Several sections, including the PHS 398 Research Plan section and biographical sketch have guidelines and/or forms that have been updated.   It is important that you ensure all proposal sections are in compliance with the new form set and guidelines to avoid rejection by NIH or GMO.

NSF Dear Colleague Letter
The National Science Foundation recently released a
Dear Colleague Letter related to a Call for Submission of Conference Proposals to Inform the Design and Success of the Alliances and National Network for NSF INCLUDES. The deadline is July 11th. The purpose of these grants will be "to inform the design of the communications and support structures for how individual NSF INCLUDES Alliances will work together with the NSF INCLUDES National Network.”
