Slow Session This Week! Did You Practice?

Last month we went over our Spring 2016 learning tunes in depth. We'll be doing that again this week. In addition we'll be working on our two new reels - The Miller of Drohan (sound file - m4a) and Anne Walshe's Reel (sound file - m4a). We'll also play our "new" waltz - The Gentle Maiden. My apologies for a few little mistakes in the sound files. I think it's pretty clear though, and you can work around them. If someone is good at editing, let me know! I could use some help with that.

 For a gorgeous low whistle and flute arrangement of the Miller of Drohan, check out Lunasa on Youtube - WARNING - this is in a different key from our sheet music. What's so great about their playing of the tune is the fluidity and the sheer beauty of the instruments all together. I have always loved Lunasa's bridges and arrangements - use this recording to inspire you and to get a feel for where the downbeat is in the tune. Don't stress that you can't play along. We'll do that on Wednesday!

OK, just so you know, If we have new folks on Wednesday, we'll do a little round robin of tunes, so pick a tune for us to play together - see the CCE tune lists (Old and New.) If not, we'll just focus on our learning tunes as always!

JUNE SLOW SESSION?

I think we will do a June Slow Session. Please reply to this message whether or not you're interested in that. When you do, I'll also send you an invitation to the new shared Slow Session Dropbox folder so you can upload and download files more easily. The June Slow Session would be Wednesday, June 15, same bat time, same bat station...

Also, I'll be picking some "Over the Summer" tunes for us to work on and posting them in the new dropbox folder, and I'm already mulling over what region of the Emerald Isle we'll be visiting tune-wise for Fall 2016. Look for those tunes soon as well.
