King Harodl Academy student third in West Essex Jack Petchey 'Speak Out' Challenge
King Harold Academy student Lisa Nakimuli came third in the West Essex final of the Jack Petchey 'Speak Out' Challenge.
Fifteen Year 10 students were at King Harold Academy hoping to be crowned West Essex Champion 2016.
Also representing King Harold Academy was Adam Freeman.
King Harold staff and the school were exceptionally proud of the pair as they were outstanding in their delivery.
Adam inspired the audience with his speech entitled ‘Corridor Dawdlers’ where he reminded the audience that there are many barriers to people achieving their goal and that we need to persevere to achieve success, especially for fish and chip Friday in the school canteen!
Lisa wowed the audience with her speech entitled `Be Not Afraid of Life’ where she highlighted that we should never give up and to look fear in the face.
Her enthralling speech received high praise from audience members, event organisers and judges.
Other King Harold students entertained the audience with performances from the Key Stage 3 Choir and The Kings Strings whose talent was acknowledged by MC for the event Jonathan Drew.
Some Year 10 students, who are currently canvassing for a place on the Pupil Leadership Team in September, were hosts - welcoming guests, entertaining the judges, ensuring the competitors kept to time and answering questions.
The feedback from members of the public was exceptionally positive about King Harold Academy.
Mr Drew thanked King Harold Academy for staging “a wonderful event” and said he felt the event had that “little bit of extra magic”.
