May is Water Safety Month
In recognition of the popularity of swimming and other water-related recreational activities in the United States, and the resulting need for ongoing public education on safer water practices, the month of May is National Water Safety Month.

Water is a critical resource, but is also a silent and life-threatening fear for children. Here are some of the statistics that we are working to change.
     ·  Half a million people drown every year around the world
     ·  More than half of the drowning victims are children
     ·   6 out of 10 African-American and Hispanic/Latino children do not know how to            swim; nearly twice the number of Caucasian children

With your help we have reached over 15,000 people with our life-saving programming. Your support has provided swim lessons to people around the world. Please consider donating today (May 18th) and we will send you a small gift to show our appreciation.

Water Safety Tips
Take swim lessons so you are comfortable in the water, never swim alone and know your surroundings. To find an im program near you, click here to find a Boys & Girls Club or email us about a Special Olympics Team.
im is offered in over 240 Special Olympics Teams in 34 countries.
Over 12,000 Boys & Girls Clubs members learned how to swim with im.
In March, we trained over 20 Special Olympic coaches from the Denver area thanks to the I & G Foundation. We have three more Trainings scheduled so that we can reach our goal have the im program offered in every state this year!
Welcome to the Michael Phelps Foundation

And we couldn't forget the youngest and cutest new member, Boomer Robert Phelps born on May 5th. Congratulations to the proud parents, Michael Phelps and Nicole Johnson. He is adorable and we can't wait to meet him.
