Saguaro SaberLINKS:
Forging strong community
one link at a time.

It's not as scary
as it sounds.

Let us break it down for you.
The SaberLINKS PTO is made up of a few Saguaro parents (like you) who get together for about an hour, once a month to talk about
how to show our students' teachers some love and what info we need to get out to Saguaro's parent community to keep them informed.

Also, we get together about once a quarter to dress some tables up with food that was donated from the awesome parents of Saguaro (YOU) to make it look nice for our deserving teachers and staff.

Twice a year, a couple of us from the Board get together for Projects and Priorities.  There, we meet with the Principal and teachers to discuss things needed for classrooms and how much PTO can support those requests (with membership donations).

And then we just started this whole crazy "Thank You Social" thing where, once a quarter or so, we get together to drink wine with the amazing people who have volunteered with us. (This one's not mandatory, but we pretend it is.)

All of those things have been a lot of fun.
Give or take a little, that's pretty much what being on the PTO Board is.
Getting together once in a while to plan something nice, and then do something nice for Saguaro teachers and staff as well as communicate with parents and do what we can to pull us all together as a community.

Here are the open Board positions:

President (or co-President?):
Planning the few things we do is easy and fun! This person is in tight communication with the Principal to be the best support for Saguaro parents.

Co-Treasurer:
Someone to help Martina Alexander (our current Treasurer) with the some of the tasks she juggles between PTO Treasurer and Project Graduation Treasurer.

Secretary:
Takes notes at our meetings and emails them to the board after each meeting.  This person also sends email reminders about upcoming meetings and events.

Here are the open
Committee Chair positions:

Communications Chair:
Manages and updates website on a weekly/biweekly basis, creates and sends email communications to parents (like the one you're reading now) and handles any other materials used to communicate to parents (summer letter).

Hospitality Chair (and co-Chair?):
Conspires with the PTO Board to schedule, then coordinate Teacher/Staff Luncheons and anything related to food.

Teacher Appreciation:
Conspire with the PTO Board to plan and then coordinate ways to show appreciation to Saguaro's teachers during
Teacher Appreciation week.

Registration Committee:
A team of volunteers to be present to answer any questions parents might have when coming to Registration in August.

Copy Room Volunteers:
Anyone who has an hour or two per week to come make copies for Saguaro's teachers.

Project Graduation Committee:
These are the people who help plan, chaperone, and/or set up this amazing event.

Volunteers in General:
Parents/Family Members and Friends who want to do a little volunteering for their community.
When a need pops up, we send
an email to ask for help.
We can't wait to add some new people to our fun team!

Email me to let me know if you'd like to help out or if you have any questions about time commitments.
