What is EIT Health CAMPUS?

EIT Health CAMPUS - creating pathways from EIT Health branded education to health entrepreneurs, innovators & new ventures for active ageing and healthy living.

EIT Health has been set up to tackle European healthcare challenges including developments such as an ageing population, a downward trend in birth rates and increased life-expectancy. EIT Health believes that one critical factor of its success in tackling these challenges is its education strategy.

This is why it has set up CAMPUS, its education pillar. Future health education must not only develop and deliver new and broader education principles embracing novel knowledge with entrepreneurship skills. It must also deliver curricula to a much broader audience, ranging from students aiming to become health entrepreneurs, health sector professionals and executives (industry and providers alike), educators and even the general public (including NGOs, patients). And on top of that: future health education must also develop novel, innovative formats attracting our target groups at all stages of their careers.

What happened so far

Since 2016, CAMPUS is fully operational. This is only possible due to the strong community of trust that all EIT Health partners are part of and that enabled the Education Committee and the entire CAMPUS team to develop the current EIT Health education portfolio. Thanks to this dedicated team, we have developed a strong marketplace of ideas, knowledge, skills and principles by drawing on the partners' knowledge base of science, medicine and business. Together, we create pathways from EIT Health branded education to health entrepreneurs, innovators & new ventures for active ageing and healthy living.

"I am very excited to announce that EIT Health CAMPUS is now fully operational. Many promising activities are about to start and the Calls for proposals for 2017 are still open for another week, waiting for you to contribute. This newsletter gives you a short overview of our approach, current activity openings, the launched Calls, submission dates and timelines for proposals. Last but not least, I want to deeply thank the entire CAMPUS team for building the fundament of our common endeavour: creating education from EIT Health partners to EIT Health partners and beyond. We make active ageing and healthy living a reality for all!"

Current CAMPUS Openings

Let me show you a few examples of our current openings designed and offered by our CAMPUS Hubs: it is great to see that our Graduate Hub's 2016 Summer Schools are ready for registration (see below), following the very promising pathway of our 2015 Summer School on Innovation and Business Creation which will take place again this year in Dublin / Barcelona.

I am also very pleased to say, that the Flagship Hub ran its first design thinking challenge, which was organised by Karolinska Institute and Open Lab in Stockholm on 21 - 23 April. This workshop attracted more than 50 applicants from all over Europe and even beyond. The event brought together a selected group of highly motivated students and teachers to tackle challenges brought in by our industry partner Roche Sweden.

I am also looking forward to the upcoming CARE CAMPUS team meeting, which is part of our Executive and Professional Hub, still having limited places available for interested EIT Health partners. CARE CAMPUS develops innovative and multi-dimensional solutions to meet the ever-increasing demand for care for the elderly while the actual supply of caregivers for the elderly is declining. Taking place over two days (25 and 26 May 2016 in Strasbourg, France), the workshop will feature dynamic participatory discussions and roundtables with CARE partners and other experts of geriatric care. It will provide a comprehensive overview of the current geriatric care situation in Europe, outlining the next steps to be taken and touching on key issues such as e-tools and other innovations. Find the detailed agenda here.

Everyone who is interested in attending the CARE workshop, please register at wks@bayfor.org by 18 May 2016.
For those of you who are interested in our Health Executive Education programme, make sure to save the dates for your upcoming short focus courses:

> Düsseldorf: 6 - 8 September
> Barcelona 13 - 15 September

EIT Health CAMPUS team
To ensure our high level education standards, the CAMPUS team meets regularly to discuss and exchange ideas on all activities taking place at the different CLCs (every month in person and every two weeks via teleconferences). During our meetings we also shape our education strategy while planning the BP 2017 in parallel. We believe that the fundament of our success are activities designed by EIT Health partners for EIT Health partners. And we are looking forward to you getting in touch with us to collaborately shape the education success.

CAMPUS Call for Proposals

For 2017 you still have until 16 May to submit a proposal to shape and offer a CAMPUS education activity. There are two ways of contributing to develop EIT Health CAMPUS further.
1. Development of CAMPUS Pillar:

Proposing activities that support CAMPUS from 2017 onwards that are currently not addressed by the hubs. We are looking for “out of the box ideas” which will develop the overall CAMPUS portfolio.

2. Development of each Hub:

In four Sub-Calls, CAMPUS asks for contributions within the existing hubs to be implemented in 2017, e.g. by proposing activities supplementing the areas outlined or by suggesting an activity to push a hub further onwards.
