Mental Health Month

Mental illnesses are real disorders with real treatments, but too few people receive optimal care. Families of people with serious mental illness live with a patchwork of care and support services and they fear for their loved one’s safety and wellbeing. There have been nearly 1 in 5 adults, or roughly 43 million Americans, with any diagnosable mental disorder within the past year.
National Prevention Week (substance abuse and mental health)
May 15th – 21st
National Prevention Week is an annual health observance dedicated to increasing public awareness of, and action around, mental and/or substance use disorders. The theme for 2016 is “Strong As One. Stronger Together.â€
National Prevention Week is held each year during the third week of May, near the start of summer. Summer is a season filled with celebrations and recreational activities where substance use and abuse can happen.
