CEDA UPDATE MAY - Members and associates edition

Dear <<First Name>>

Thank you to Yarra Ranges Tourism for the most informative industry summit they held last week at The Eastern Golf Club. It was great to see members of CEDA and business operators from the Warburton Valley attend. Presentations from Melanie De Souza of Tourism Victoria highlighted the success of the Wander Victoria media campaign (see March CEDA news for info) and the opportunity that INTRAstate (visitors within two hours drive from Melbourne) present for our region.
Chairman of Yarra Ranges Tourism, Mark Lucas, provided a big picture perspective for our region within the total Victorian landscape and the advocacy that Yarra Ranges Tourism provide at a state level.  Bradley Fouteux, CEO of Parks Victoria,  reinforced the need for quality digital presence and content curation in business. Bradley, a new resident in Victoria having just relocated from Canada, also provided some interesting contrasts and highlighted the potential of nature-based tourism in our regional offer. Ali Wastie from the Shire of Yarra Ranges detailed the important private and public investment currently being undertaken in our region with particular emphasis on the Warburton Mountain Bike Hub (the architects have commenced work) and streetscaping works.
Yarra Ranges Tourism  also provided a recap of their activities over the past 12 months with impressive results particularly in the digital arena. We have certainly benefitted from many flow-on effects, including the high levels of traffic now coming to visitwarburton.com.au

An important question to ponder for all us is 'how do we increase mid-week traffic?' so I will leave that with you all as food for thought over the next month. CEDA are looking to hold a series of quarterly network nights and brainstorming forums for members, so that we can generate great ideas together.
Membership renewal information will arrive in your inbox shortly.

Kind regards,
Peta Godenzi
