Because the need for church revitalization is strongly felt throughout conservative evangelical groups, Converge Heartland is working collaboratively with the Siouxland Association of the Dakota Baptist Convention and the Great Plains Association of North American Baptists in order to address this urgent need in a gospel-centered manner. You are highly encouraged to bring your spouse, staff and key church leaders to this first-of-its-kind event in the Heartland region.

The Church Revitalization Forum has been financially underwritten so there is no expense outside of your transportation and lodging. This is a priority event and the beginning of a grass-roots initiative for all who desire the revitalization of Heartland region churches. Pastors' Renewal Retreat Recap

Nearly 50% of our Converge Heartland pastors and pastoral couples met at Lied Lodge for the annual Pastors' Renewal Retreat. Drs. Don and Sherry Mortenson were the guest speakers. They are the founders of a ministry called Ephraim's Refuge and have a long affiliation with Converge Worldwide. They led sessions designed to help and encourage us in the areas of marriage, relationships and inter-personal communication. Attendees also enjoyed free time to rest, enjoy one another and to explore the beautiful surroundings of Lied Lodge. On Sunday morning, Vladimir Degtyarov, President of Zaporozhye Bible College in Ukraine, shared about our global connection and project partnership to assist hundreds of thousands of people who have been internally displaced by Ukraine's ongoing war/conflict with Russia. After sharing, Vladimir led us in an intimate time of communion as we prayed together and partook in the Lord's supper around our tables.

Converge Heartland Pastoral Search Services

There is no season that is more critical to the life of a local church than the transitional period of finding a new senior or associate pastor. This is a strategic time during which a church can intentionally hire to build upon existing momentum or strategically address their need for revitalization. Converge Heartland considers it an honor to assist churches across the Heartland region with their pastoral search needs.

While assisting a church with their interim pulpit supply needs, we work together with the church’s leaders to identify a search committee and move through a 12-step process that moves a church from an initial meeting all the way to pastoral installment. This process has been developed, over time, by Converge leaders and is also being used in other Converge Districts. It gives a high regard to the autonomy, life stage, needs and culture of the local church in search of a pastor.

Our Pastoral Search Service is a value-added service that is available to Heartland region churches on a sliding-fee scale based on a church’s participation in the Converge Heartland District. We believe that this is the most effective, economical, relational and outcomes-driven pastoral search option for the churches in the Heartland region.

Get to Know Your Heartland Pastors!

Chuck Jespersen is the Executive Pastor of Ministry Staff at Central Church in Sioux Falls, SD. He started in this position in February 2016, but he first came to Central in 2014 as the Youth Pastor. He added Next Gen in 10 Pastor to his role last year, spearheading a new initiative to reach thousands of the next generation and their families for the next 10 years.

Pastor Chuck grew up in NW Iowa, went to the University of South Dakota, and has lived and worked in both Sioux City and Le Mars, Iowa. Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Campus Crusade for Christ were influential in his youth and college years. He has worked in student ministry, public relations and volunteer recruitment, and as a hospital foundation director.

He and Ellen will celebrate ten years of marriage this summer. They have four children: Naomi (8), Bethany (7), Andy (4), and Ben (2).
