Beginning the Search Process

The last nine months have had plenty of activity! The Elders conducted a four-month listening tour of over 600 people in the congregation. Along the path of that tour, they gathered plenty of thoughts about our church and a future Senior Pastor.

Our elder ballots of May 1 showed that all four elders on the slate received at least a 95% affirmation. This is a good indicator that our church is in a healthy place to move forward with a Senior Pastor search at this time.

How do we form a Search Committee?

The church constitution says that a Pulpit Committee “shall be activated as needed and shall consist of the elected elders and two members elected by the congregation. It shall select its own chairman.”

What does the Search Committee do?

Again the church constitution says: “It shall conduct the search for and evaluate the qualifications of Senior Pastoral candidates and make appropriate recommendations to the Elder Board. It shall perform all functions necessary to the discharge of this responsibility, including the following...

Search Process—Special Dates

Starting this week, the Elders would like you to recommend members to serve on the Search Team for our next Senior Pastor. Please send names to search@evfreefullerton.com by May 23. On Sunday, June 12, at 3:30pm in the Worship Center, there will be a Congregational Meeting to introduce those who will be on the Search Team. Then on Sunday, June 19, during the services, the congregation will vote on the two congregational members of the Search Team. Please pray with us as we begin this search process.

Rebuilding a Marriage

When Jim and I first met the Marriage Builders facilitators, and found out about their Marriage Builders class two years ago, we were anxious to sign up. At that time our marriage was in crisis, and I (Vanessa) felt that it was a last ditch effort to save our marriage. We had struggled with an inability to communicate effectively as a couple throughout our 16 years of marriage. In fact, I felt we had destroyed any possibility of having a meaningful relationship because we had torn each other down so much.

As believers, we had tried several Bible studies and attended marriage retreats, always thinking “This is it! This one will surely help us!” But within a matter of time, we would find ourselves engaging in the same behaviors that were so destructive to us personally and as a couple.

Then along came Marriage Builders. In spite of the fact that I was on the verge of wanting to separate out of sheer hopelessness...

Women’s Summer Study—ALL IN

This summer, we are inviting the women of the church (and their neighbors, friends, coworkers) to go ALL IN with Jesus. For five nights in June, we'll explore what that looks like, featuring some of our favorite speakers: Caitlin Baird, Sarah Ferraro, Jan Frank, Jenni Key, Kirstie Weeks.

Wednesdays, June 1–29 from 7:00–8:30pm in the Commons. No cost. No homework. No kidding. Register here (not because there is a cost, but so we can plan for you and welcome you with a name tag!).
