Join us for worship!

A missional mindset, is an approach, an understanding that we must intentionally and with dedicated effort seek out, invite and bring others into a relationship with Christ Jesus. One of the ways we're doing such at St. Peter's is with our Powerful Praise worship experience. Please share with persons this opportunity for a radically different worship experience. Pray for it to be fruitful and financially donate to it that it may better reach out. Our next service will be on Saturday, June 11th at 5P.  Join us for powerful song and scripture. Powerful Praise will be on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.

Shared Breakfast for the Homeless

Due to lack of volunteers, St. Peter’s is no longer participating in the Shared Breakfast for the homeless at Seattle First United Methodist Church. There is still the opportunity for individuals to participate, if desired, on any Sunday morning although there is the most need on the 4th and 5th Sundays of the month. An individual, or group should arrive at Seattle First (180 Denny Way) by 7:30 am and it is useful to first call Jean Ferguson, coordinator, at 206-427-1646 and mention that you coming from St. Peter’s church to serve.

Church Council

Church Council Meeting is rescheduled to June 7 at 7P.  Please mark your calendars for this meeting.

Fun at the Farmer’s Market

During the summer St. Peter’s will be represented at the Crossroads Farmer’s Market on 5 separate Tuesday afternoons from 3 to 6pm. We are alternating with Bellevue First UMC and Bellevue First Congregational Church. The location will be the east parking lot and the target audience is children with their parents. It is the policy of the market that children be supervised at all times.

We will want 2 to 3 volunteers each time. We are delighted to have JANE SESSIONS (Miss Jane) as the program/education developer and she will be at the booth most times along with Pat King, so there will be plenty of support. Volunteers will have assistance with transportation of supplies. We will be under a 10 ft. canopy with an 8 ft. table, both supplied by Crossroads.

This is a great opportunity to be visible in the community and interact with community members about our church and our beliefs and/or programs. Dates still open are August 2nd and 30th and September 6th. If you are interested, please sign up in the Narthex or contact Pat King at jm7041@comcast.net.

St. Peter's Wish List

The Wish List is up and running.  This list is for items which are unbudgeted.

Some money has arrived for the Makers Space and also for the new tables.  We still need additional money to pay for the new tables for the fellowship hall.

Items can be funded by personal donation, memorial gift, or by committee donations. If you would personally like to contribute to this wish list, donations may be made through the Sunday offering or given directly to the church office and identified as Wish List. If you or your committee have suggestions for the Wish List please direct them to Pastor Steve for review.

Submitted by St. Peter’s Finance Committee.

Missionary Comes to Visit

We are excited that our missionary in Nepal, Katherine Parker, will be visiting St. Peter’s on Wednesday evening, July 6th. She will teach preparation of a Nepali meal to those who are interested and then follow the eating of the meal with a presentation about the earthquake in Nepal last year.

During the month of June, to honor Katherine, we will be practicing the greeting “Namaste” and using it as a welcome in our order of service in place of Lee Ho. Pat King will present the greeting, its origin, variations, use and meaning with the help of Vasantha Daniel.

Yard Sale Summing Up

There will be a meeting on Wednesday, June 1st at 2P at the church to sum up successes of the recently held Yard Sale, to decide whether to have a Yard Sale in 2017, and discuss what changes might be beneficial.

This meeting will be open to anyone interested, not just those who worked at the Yard Sale, but also those who shopped there or were inconvenienced by the Fellowship Hall being in use for those 5 days. If unable to attend the meeting, please send comments to Pat King at: jm7041@comcast.net.

Dealing with Homelessness

In the news there have been conversations about ways to deal with homelessness. Eastside Cities have agreed to be responsible for shelters that are permanently in place as opposed to Emergency Shelters such as we have at St. Peter’s. Bellevue already has a permanent shelter for women at St. Luke’s Lutheran and St. Luke’s plans to expand that through Imagine Housing to a building on St. Luke’s property for 50 to 60 low income units. The Youth Shelter will continue in Redmond and a Family Shelter is planned for Kirkland. Through some reorganization at Congregations for the Homeless, a permanent shelter for men is planned in Bellevue. We will be having a meeting on Sunday, June 12th with a question and answer session after church to discuss the future property use.  Everyone is invited to attend this meeting in the fellowship hall starting at 11:45A.  Get your snack and take a seat. Be prepared with your questions.

Women's Fellowship

Next meeting of the UMW Fellowship Circle will be Wednesday June 15, 2016, from 10am-noon in the Fellowship Hall.  You may bring your own knitting or hand projects to work on.  Some of us are working on an easy project for young children at risk. Questions call Diana Wilson.  All women are invited.
