Welcome to the brand new
made by ChrissieD newsletter

Since creating a mailing list for my made by ChrissieD blog I'm delighted to say readership is growing far quicker than I ever dreamt possible.  This has started me thinking about the best way to pass my blog posts and news on to you.  Realising not everyone wants to receive multiple emails from me each week I've decided to switch the format instead to a twice monthly round-up of blog posts, behind the scenes snippets and additional news.  This way you'll be able to dip into topics that interest you and skim over the rest.

Typically in my blog posts I share:
  • my sewing and quilting tips and tutes;
  • projects with fabric companies and magazines;
  • occasional giveaways;
  • some yarn/knitting/crochet posts;
  • my "Exploring..." posts detailing fabric and yarn stores I visit on my worldwide travels;
  • pics from events and exhibitions I visit and about crafters that I meet;
  • projects I'm working on with the NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild;
  • details of classes I'm teaching; and
  • I'll slip in the odd post about my family.
I'm very excited about the future for me and the made by ChrissieD brand and can't wait to share it with you as it happens.  If you'd prefer to keep up to date with the blog as soon as I publish a post then you'll want to consider signing up to a blog reader such as Bloglovin' or Feedly and following me there too.  If this doesn't sound like it's your cup of tea please scroll to the bottom of the newsletter to click the unsubscribe button.

If you're happy to stick around, thanks for subscribing and let's do this together :D

NEWS

Last week didn't go to plan - I was supposed to travel to Mexico with my husband but less than 24 hours before we were due to fly out I had to do an emergency run to the dentist and then the hospital to be told I had a failed root canal and as a result I couldn't fly.  That was total news to me, I had no idea that you shouldn't fly with a tooth infection, did you?  We're just about getting over our disappointment and I've had the first stage of tooth repair work done now!!!

MODERN BY THE YARD

This week I'm working on a project for the second issue of Modern By The Yard - the brand new free e-zine produced by Benartex Fabrics.  My Window At Twilight quilt, featured in the first issue, has also arrived safely home from its photo shoot for the magazine and I was finally able to show it off at May meeting of the NYC Metro MOD Quilt Guild.  Did you take a look at the magazine yet?  Here's a note from Editor Susan Neill:

"We've started Modern by the Yard as an e-zine dedicated to sharing modern fabrics and projects with today's quilters.  In each issue, you'll find introductions to upcoming fabrics, several projects made by modern designers - both those you already know and some new talent, and fun tips and tidbits from the online world."

I'd love to hear from you if you do make your own Window At Twilight quilt or any of the other free patterns in the magazine.  You can always get in touch using the email icon at the bottom of this newsletter.

Clicking the button below will take you through to the magazine.

WHERE'S THE DEER SLOUCHY NOW?
Remember the Deer Slouchy Bag I made for my friend Pat back in England?  When I gave Pat the bag she told me she was going to take it on her hols with her and true to her word she did, and she sent me this pic to prove it.  Made my day getting this pic, just wish I was on holiday with Pat to share sun, laughs, chat and cocktails.
THE GREAT BRITISH SEWING BEE
Great excitement this week in my home country - The Great British Sewing Bee is back on the telly.  I'm very lucky and am able to watch British TV here in America so I got my crafty fix of Basic Construction on Monday evening along with the rest of my friends back home.  I'm delighted to see Charlotte Newland, a fellow blogging sewist and quilter, is a contestant this year and I'll be cheering her on from my sofa.  If you're able to watch British TV too then tune in Monday, 9 pm on BBC2 and if you're not in the UK but would like to find out more the GBSB Facebook page is a great place to start.
EXPLORING ...
My Exploring blog post series for the British Isles is now complete (until my next trip home!).  If you're planning a trip look no further for tips on shops to visit when you're there and if you just love drooling over fabric and yarn eye candy then these are the posts for you too.
