First Annual Summer Series at the Greenville Jct. Depot


The Depot will be hosting a series of events through the summer in addition to the Annual Celebration and Moose Burger BBQ.

Current Depot Events Calendar:

June 25, 9am - 3pm…Community Art Show will feature local artist Bonita Doughty, her students, high schools artists from Greenville and Guilford. There will be Art work for sale, demonstrations, and entertainment throughout the day…..At the Depot Freight Shed, free to public.

July 10 … Shabby Chic Tea Party in Ladies Waiting Room.

July 16, 9am …Annual Meeting ~ Greenville Junction Depot Friends. Coffee - swe
et breads and annual updates. So many exciting things happening… Other Summer Series events:  Flea Market - “Woofstock”- Line dance lesson.

August 20… 10am to 2pm… Annual Celebration with Mooseburgers on the grill.


     


Depot Happenings:

Plum Creek Timber/Weyerhaeuser awards the Depot a $2000 grant!



Bangor Saving Bank awarded us $1000 for the "Community Matters More" campaign.  Thank you for your votes!

Our Exciting Path Forward:


Construction and Design:
2Aarchitects have been hired for a Construction and Design Phase for the Depot to be able to move forward. 2A architects, llc of Rockport, Maine is pleased and honored to continue their involvement with the Greenville Junction Depot project. The firm will provide architectural design and management services throughout the course of the project. These services will begin with design of the floor plan, exterior elevations, and site in a manner that achieves the group’s goal to preserve the building’s historic character as well as provide a beautiful, functional, and accessible venue for the enjoyment of the public.  The firm’s services will continue through detailing the project for construction, providing assistance with contractor bidding, and ultimately assisting during construction as the facility undergoes renovations.

Grant Writing:
Fred Krone GEM Grant Writing has been hired to write grants that will to move the Depot at a faster pace. Fred Krone, a resident of Monson, is a professional grant writer that has been securing funding for historic preservation, community development, and business development projects for the past 12 years across the eastern United States.  During this time, Fred has secured over $30 million in funding for many different types of projects, including historic building preservation.  Fred will be playing an instrumental role in helping the Save the Depot fundraising campaign secure the money necessary to preserve the historic Greenville Junction Depot.  

National Historic Register:
Meggan Hopkin to pursue adding the Depot to the National Historic Register. Megan Hopkin is a Historic Preservationist/Architectural Historian who earned her Masters Degree in Historic Preservation from Ball State University in 2010. Megan moved to Maine in the fall of 2010 in order to work for the State in her professional field. Historic Preservation and architectural history is not only her profession but a passion of hers.She loves researching old buildings and the people that utilized them. In her free time, Megan likes to explore the state of Maine and photograph the various places she visits. She is also an avid hiker with her dog Gunner and her significant other Jacob. Megan will be conducting research on the Canadian Pacific railway and its relation with the Greenville Depot. She will also be digging into the architectural history of the building in order to write the National Register Nomination to have the Depot listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Megan hopes to have the nomination completed to go before Maine Historic Preservation Commission in October
