Save the date: Tarner's Summer Celebration is taking place on 17 July
Summer celebration
We are holding a Summer Celebration which will take place on 17 July 2016, from 12.30pm-4.30pm. This is the same day as Carlton Hill School's Summer Fayre. We plan to offer a great range of activities here, all of which will complement what the school is offering, so there will be loads for everyone to join in with and enjoy! We are really excited that a huge, live arts project will take place throughout the event. A lot more information to follow in the next newsletter. If anyone can donate raffle prizes or bric a brac, books and clothes for our stalls, we'd appreciate that.

On our bikes!
We are delighted to now have eight bikes at the Project, suitable for ages four right up to adult. Huge thanks to Brighton and Hove Council, who paid for the bikes as part of a transport planning initiative, aimed at encouraging us out of our cars and onto our bikes. It also supplied high-vis jackets, lights and locks. We would also really like to thank Freedom Bikes, who supplied the bikes and were very generous. The council is running free Bikeability cycle training courses in Preston Park and Hove Park throughout the summer holidays. To find out more, go to its website.

Holiday play scheme
The half-term holiday play scheme will run from 31 May to 3 June 2016. A very few spaces are available and you can book via the website.

After school arrangements
Could all parents/carers notifying us if their child does not need collecting from school or if their child is doing a club at school and is walking around later to us. Many thanks!

Vandalism in the park
Recently, there has been a spate of vandalism in the park, with damage done to park property. It's a worrying development and we have taken various measures to guard against this. Please let us know if you see anything of concern or any antisocial behaviour.

Feedback and FAQs
Thanks to everyone who filled out feedback forms recently. We really value your input and received some very valuable feedback about the service we provide and how we can improve. To answer some of the most regularly asked questions, we plan to add an FAQ section to the website soon. This will provide lots of information about everything from the meals we cook for the children, to security on site. We hope you will find it reassuring.

Staff training
All Tarner staff recently attended Safeguarding Refresher courses. This is required by Ofsted and supplied by Safety Net. This also included a specialist workshop in trans and gender awareness. In addition, all staff First Aid training is up to date.

Works in the park
Thank you for your patience while essential work takes place in the park. The boundary wall between the park and Carlton Hill School had become unstable and is being rebuilt. Work is now underway and will stretch through the summer. It will hopefully be fully completed by October 2016.
