Merton Chamber AGM

Announcing new membership packages

On the evening of May 12th we held our Annual General Meeting at Hotel Du Vin, Cannizaro House on Wimbledon Common.

It was a fantastic event with many of our members hearing of what we achieved up to year end June 2015 and plans for our future, including a new membership service which will simplify our membership system into Standard and Premier members, due to be launched in the summer.

In March we sent out a research survey to gather feedback from both our members and non-members about what they feel the Chamber does well, and what could be improved upon. We were delighted with the response from over 80 businesses, so a big thank you to those who completed it.

3 out of the first 30 respondents received £25 vouchers for Elys Wimbledon as an extra thank you - see who the lucky 3 were below!

A year in review

Faith in Action, but cookers out of action!
By Raymond Kinsella

Faith in Action’s fabulous Merton Homeless Project  provides 7000 meals a year for local homeless people but its ageing cookers (appliances not people!) are creaking under the strain and need to be replaced…..quickly!

Twice a week volunteers provide breakfast and lunch but their tasks are being hampered. I know a ‘good workman never blames his tools’ but I think we can make an exception with this group of workers!

Faith in Action have  set up a
Just Giving page to help them raise the £2,000 needed to replace the cookers and staff and volunteers would be very grateful for any contribution that you are able to make.

If you are a local business and would like to support a good cause in Merton contact: Raymond Kinsella ray@mertonchamber.co.uk 020 8944 5501 www.mertonmeansbusiness.co.uk

Mitcham Orchard needs your help!

Mitcham Community Orchard and Gardens needs YOUR help to fund its water supply!

The community orchard and gardens project does not currently have a water supply, essential to its continued success (5 Awards in Year 1) and has depended upon neighbours' kind provision of hosepipes over the fences.

They desperately need a reliable, dedicated supply in the orchard, which requires Thames Water to take a new supply off the mains and an accredited underground plumber to install pipe...work and tap.

This project will open to the public during daylight hours in the late Spring and we need to have all our infrastructure and major construction works completed by then.

Please help them fulfil the dream of this astonishing and successful project to provide a leisure and education resource for all.

Every little helps!

Help show AFC Wimbledon support at Wembley Play off Final!

AFC WIMBLEDON V PLYMOUTH: Fooball League 2 Play-off Final, Wembley Stadium 30th May

As many of you will know, AFC Wimbledon were victorious in their Semi – Final play-off match at Accrington Stanley recently. For the first time since their FA Cup Final in 1988, they will now be travelling to Wembley for the final with Plymouth and a fantastic chance to gain promotion to league 1!

There has been a fantastic response from Dons supporters since tickets for Wembley went on sale with 16,378 having been sold by 7.00 pm Saturday. However, with Plymouth already selling over 30,000 of their tickets it looks like AFC Wimbledon’s supporter numbers will be far less on the day without an increase in ticket purchases this week.

Please do think about supporting this great local team on the day at this world famous venue and help get AFC Wimbledon on the way to a promotion.

https://www.eticketing.co.uk/afcwimbledon/ – tickets can be purchased through e-ticketing.
